We are excited to announce a new collaboration! 🎉 The Marshalltown Community College Esports community is partnering with the MCC Foundation to host a summer camp! We can’t wait to welcome participants and make this an unforgettable experience. We are SO excited to see everyone this summer!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Students will spend several days working on micro-coaching, macro-coaching, and leadership fundamentals. They will cover many of the Iowa High School Esports Association’s (IAHSEA) featured game titles.
CAMP HIGHLIGHTS
- During the first day of the camp, coaching staff and MCC student leaders will run diagnostics. They will find current strengths and weaknesses for the students for each game.
- Then, coaches will build coaching plans for each student and spend two days implementing those plans with them.
- Finally, the camp will culminate in an “Esports Draft.” This event will split campers into two teams. They will play non-IAHSEA esports titles that test how much they’ve learned about esports coaching fundamentals over the camp.
- Throughout the camp, students will also engage in non-esports activities. These include team building and leadership activities. They will participate in trivia and non-video game competitions and more!

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CAMP?
- Dedicated coaching from MCC’s national championship winning coaching staff
- Students will develop life skills that they can take back to their high school teams. Some skills of these skills will be leadership, decision-making, communication, critical analysis, giving and receiving feedback, etc.
- Team bonding and group activities that extend beyond gaming and get students active and making memories
- Exposure to the college esports structure and expectations
ITEMS TO BRING
- Pillow
- Sleeping bag or bed linens
- Clothing & pajamas
- Toiletries (deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.)

- Smartphone & charger
- Spending money
Students participating in Nintendo Switch titles should bring their own preferred controller. Students may bring their own Switch consoles if they wish. However, MCC has enough consoles and GameCube Adapters on hand to host the camp.
Accounts are required for Overwatch, Valorant, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, or Marvel Rivals. Students MUST have a valid PC account to join in those titles. If a student doesn’t have one, they may create one in advance or at the start of the camp.
Rocket League players should bring their preferred controllers and cables.
Students may bring headsets, keyboard and mice, or other PC peripherals, but there will also be equipment on-site
OVERNIGHT EXPECTATIONS
Coaches & chaperons will be on campus for the entire camp and the overnight stays in the dorm buildings. Lights out will occur at 11:00 pm each night. At this time, students are expected to stay in their assigned rooms for the rest of the night. There will be specific chaperons in the boys’ dorms and the girls’ dorms. Students found leaving their room after hours will have their parents called. They will be instantly dismissed from the rest of the camp with no refunds issued. These students may not be allowed to attend future esports camps at MCC.
ELIGIBLE STUDENTS
Open to incoming 9th-12th graders and 2026 high school graduates. The camp is co-ed and open to all students.
REGISTRATION CAP
The registration cap is 20 PC students and 16 console students. There is also a 3-person miniumum needed to run each individual game title. If a game has two or less registered campers, we will not run that game title. If a game fails to meet the least needed, campers will be notified in advance. They will have the chance to switch to a different game title. Alternatively, they can cancel their camp registration for a full refund.
DROP-OFF & PICK-UP PROCEDURE
Students need to report to Marshalltown Community College. They must enter the building using Door 3 on the east side of campus. They will report to the check-in table to confirm they have paid for the camp. Students will not be admitted into the camp without paying first.
- Drop-Off: Sunday, June 28th, 2pm-6pm
- Pick-Up: Thursday, July 2nd, 8am-12pm
MEALS
Lunch and dinner will be provided to students daily. There is no extra cost for these meals. They are part of their admission fee for the camp in the Faust Dining Center. If students have specific allergies or dietary restrictions, please make sure these needs are listed on your registration form. This allows the kitchen to be prepared. Alternatively, plan on packing extra meals or snack options.
